1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Ancestral Lineage ("the Platform"), operated by FacioTech Foundation ("we", "our", or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and anyone who accesses the Platform at https://ancestrallineage.org.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. By using the Platform, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Account Responsibilities

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
• You must provide accurate and complete information during registration and keep it up to date.
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. User-Generated Content

4.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload, including family tree data, photographs, documents, stories, and biographical information ("Your Content"). By uploading content, you grant us a limited license to host, display, and process it solely to operate the Platform.

4.2 Content Standards

You agree not to upload content that:

• Infringes on intellectual property rights of others
• Contains defamatory, abusive, or hateful material
• Includes personal data of others without their consent
• Violates any applicable law or regulation

4.3 Community Content

Forum posts, comments, and shared clan pages are visible to other users. We reserve the right to moderate and remove content that violates our community guidelines.

5. Family Tree Data & Consent

When adding information about living family members, you represent that you have obtained appropriate consent from those individuals (or their guardians, in the case of minors). You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the family data you provide.

6. Subscription Plans & Payments

Ancestral Lineage offers free and paid subscription plans. By subscribing to a paid plan:

• You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annually).
• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are provided at our discretion and are generally available within 14 days of the initial subscription.
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

7. Susu & Wallet Services

The Susu (group savings) and wallet features facilitate financial coordination within family groups. By using these features:

• You acknowledge that Ancestral Lineage facilitates transactions but is not a bank or financial institution.
• Group savings rules are set by group administrators; disputes within groups should be resolved among members.
• Withdrawal requests are processed according to the group's rules and may take up to 5 business days.
• We are not liable for disputes arising between Susu group members.

8. Intellectual Property

The Platform, including its design, logos, code, and documentation, is owned by FacioTech Foundation and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Platform without our written consent.

9. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or to harm others
• Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Platform systematically
• Interfere with or disrupt the Platform or its infrastructure
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or bans
• Use the Platform for commercial purposes without authorization
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or other harmful material

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases, but you may request an export of your data before deletion (see our Privacy Policy for data portability details).

11. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not verify the accuracy of genealogical data provided by users.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FacioTech Foundation shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Accra, Ghana, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
